GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 609042
Convert quoted-printable to UTF-8 when copying to clipboard
Last modified: 2010-02-17 06:43:46 UTC
Overview: Copying headers with special characters in the name gets corrupted. Clicking on the email headers to send a new main to them works just fine. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Open a mail which has some special characters in the recipient's name. Example: Germán Póo-Caamaño <gpoo@gnome.org> 2) Right click on the email ID and select "Copy Email Address" 3) Paste the email address in a new composer or in any editor. Actual Results: It is pasted as =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Germ=E1n_P=F3o-Caama=F1o?= <gpoo@gnome.org> Expected Results: Handle the strings better and paste it as Germán Póo-Caamaño <gpoo@gnome.org> Happens with both master and stable builds.

Fixed for 2.29 in: http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?id=eff516f779f532fb1e0c9899fa9c6de84be8d179 Bharath, in your patch for 2.28, I'm not sure the decode step is necessary. If the email address is malformed we just copy the raw text (sans the mailto:). Otherwise the patch looks good. Please commit it for 2.28.3.
