Ubuntu user problem with encryption
Last modified: 2010-01-31 15:32:12 UTC
Hi, Im a Debian/Ubuntu maintainer, could you try to answer this ubuntu user? He has problems with encryption, but I think the problem isn't related with package: - https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/almanah/+bug/510425 Thanks for your software. Regards.
Hi. He has to have seahorse-agent running (not just Seahorse), and possibly gnome-keyring-daemon too. From the sounds of things, he has a configuration issue which is causing seahorse-agent not to start. There's nothing I can do in Almanah to work around or change this behaviour.
Thanks for your rapid response. Regards,
Thanks guys! Finally found the missing part to encrypt DB in Almanah: we need the seahorse-plugins package as well as seahorse after installing it, logout and login again to start the seahorse-agent in the login shell env This should be added as a dependency in the Ubuntu repo. Also, the multiple choice pull down list for the gpg key selection should be made wider or resizeable: I have 10 different gpg keys in my key-ring (gathered over many years) and can barely see which one is which in the selection window, as they all start with my name, hence look the same. And "Definitions" seems to be a work in progress? At least it's greyed out here. Otherwise it's a simple and light app that does one thing, and it does that quite well! Congrats, henry

Good point. That's now fixed in 0.7.2, which I've just released. > And "Definitions" seems to be a work in progress? At least it's greyed out > here. Works for me. You have to add an entry and select some text before you can add a definition for the text.
