This bug was originally reported to Launchpad at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/455129

"With the option to turn black the screen when I close the lid of the laptop a error is created, because after opening it the screen remains black, and I have to suspend the machine with the fn+stand by combination of buttons to get the screen back."

This is in Karmic and Lucid version 2.29.1-0ubuntu1
