Description Tim Hockin 2010-01-19 20:01:58 UTC
Select a file, right click, Edit Track Information.

Go to the Genre box and type "Downtempo" - halfway through the auto-complete suggests "Downtempo", but I kept typing and ended up with "Downtempompo".

The auto-complete should not be inserted into the text field directly. This hit me about 10 times today already.
Comment 1 Tim Hockin 2010-01-19 20:06:42 UTC
This is the latest version from the banshee-team PPA (not the daily) on Ubuntu Karmic.
Comment 2 Gabriel Burt 2010-01-19 20:08:33 UTC
Hrm, that doesn't happen for me - I can just keep typing. You're definitely
not hitting any other key like Tab or Enter?

I can see the way it currently works causing problems if you're trying to enter
(for the first time) a value that is the prefix of an existing value - eg "Roc"
when "Rock" already exists, it will add the last "k" in there for you
(highlighted, so if you type it'll overwrite it - but you're already done
typing). This isn't the problem you're having though, right?
Comment 3 Fabio Durán Verdugo 2010-01-19 20:46:52 UTC
For me doesn't happen too.
Comment 4 Tim Hockin 2010-01-19 21:12:14 UTC
It's only for items that it can auto-complete (as you suggest with Rock), but it inserts the last "k" and my "k" from typing.

I am definitely not hitting tab or anything.

In my case it has seen "Downtempo" before. I type "Do" and it fills in the rest of "Downtempo", but it is *NOT* highlighted, and my cursor gets warped to the end of "Downtempo". If I had blindly typed it, I would have ended up with "Downtempowntempo".

100% reproducible on this. How can I help repro it?
Comment 5 Alexander Kojevnikov 2010-01-20 00:23:04 UTC
I can reproduce and it's actually bug 333320. Closing as a duplicate, feel free to re-open if you are not using a clipboard manager.
