Description Tim Hockin 2010-01-19 00:35:46 UTC
I have loaded my mp3 collection into Banshee, and I would love to pull cover art for many of these albums that do not have it.

I go to the Tools menu, Cover Art option, choose Download Cover Art option.

Nothing happens.

What is supposed to happen?

Latest build from the Banshee PPA on Ubuntu Karmic

Please post a few examples of albums that don't have the cover art.

I take it back - many albums DO have album art. Some can't be found, though.

For example, I have various soundtracks and other albums which can't find album art. I don't know if it is because the album name is slightly different than what is expected (added or missing "the", misspelled, added "motion picture soundtrack", etc).

I also have a ton of smaller label and indy label (a lot of electronic music) albums which don't get found. Winamp under windows used to find a lot of these albums that Banshee is missing. I know winamp had a couple different covert art repositories it looked at...

I was hoping there was a UI for "We didn't find this album, but we found XYZ - is that the same?"

Examples:

"The Animatrix" - half of the tracks have album art, half don't.

"Sweeney Todd (Original Cast)" - no album art.

"Sunny Side of the Moon: The Best of Richard Cheese" - no album art.

"Sun Spot" (by Dark Soho) - no album art.

"Stateside Sessions - Drum and Bass Volume 1" - no album art.

"Star Wars Trilogy: The Original Soundtrack Anthology" - no album art.

"Space" (by S-Range) - no album art

"Songs of Freedom" (by Bob Marley) - no album art.

"IncaNations" (various artists) - no album art.

Lastly, is there a way to tell Banshee to save the album art that it does find and store it all in the album directories?

Most of the albums you listed don't have the album art because they include characters like ')', '-', ':', etc and bug 520516 prevents cover art to be saved for such albums.

For other albums, the git master version now allows to select cover art manually .

Closing as a dupe of bug 520516.
