GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 607161
security issues
Last modified: 2010-01-16 19:29:51 UTC
Binary package hint: empathy Empathy 2.28.1.1 has some security issues. For one, I get all the time random messages about joining people's web site to view their fake porn web cams which is not a problem with Linux because it can't get windows-related viruses... But it IS very annoying. Two, there is no way to block a contact. Three, there is no way to ping a contact for an IP address, so I can later run a Traceroute. I'm just saying, It needs these implementations to be more functional. Thanks for your bug report (but seriously for such a request there's absolutely zero need for such attachments). Also you come with several requests in a single report, which makes it impossible to handle appropriately. (for example the request to block contacts is bug 551911). This looks like your main request, so I'm marking this bug as a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 551911 ***
Sorry Frederic, I'm fairly still new to reporting bugs and I was unaware of the duplicate report. I ended up removing Empathy and installing Pidgin.
