Description brunogirin 2010-01-14 15:07:39 UTC
When connecting an iPod to the computer, the file system on the iPod is mounted as root and therefore the user cannot update the content of the iPod. If the iPod is then unmounted and mounted using gnome-mount via the command line, it is mounted with user permissions as expected.

See the original Ubuntu Launchpad bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/413021

Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect iPod to the computer
2. Wait for Nautilus to open a window to the iPod file system
3. Check permissions of the files on the iPod

Expected behaviour:
The iPod is mounted with standard user permissions and the user is able to update files on the iPod.

Actual behaviour:
The iPod is mounted with root permissions and the user is unable to update files on it.

I don't see how this is a bug in Nautilus - if it's still relevant it sounds like a bug in a lower layer of the stack (udev or media-player-info) to me.
