In Linux, a mouse click pops up the list in a ComboBox, and then another click selects.  Under Windows, the first button release pops down the list immediately, so one has to hold down the button on the first click in order to select.

A workaround: Use GTK+ 2.16.

(I have a strong fear GTK+ 2.16 was as good as it is going to get on Windows. The client-side-windows work in 2.18, and other work being done currently, will only make it more buggy on Windows. Unless there from somewhere appears more maintainers for the Windows code, that is.)
