Description Robin Stocker 2010-01-08 17:22:53 UTC
When running Metacity with the built-in compositor enabled, all panels (top and bottom in my case) disappear sometimes.

It happens to me when starting Eclipse sometimes:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=295810

Others have the same problem in Chromium when changing the "Use system title bar and borders" property:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=14822

It appears to be a problem in Metacity as it doesn't occur with Compiz and because multiple applications are affected.

There's also a Launchpad bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/396590

I can confirm this and it still happens in 2.30.
Comment 2 Robin Stocker 2011-01-26 15:00:20 UTC
It also happens with other compositing managers, reassigning to gnome-panel.
Comment 3 Robin Stocker 2013-07-12 15:23:28 UTC
Haven't had this problem with GNOME Shell, closing. If it still exists with GNOME classic, a new bug should be reported.
