GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 606404
Inline error message truncated if too long
Last modified: 2012-04-03 18:27:46 UTC
this report has been filed here: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/504187 "If eog displays an error message that is too long to fit into the width of the window, it gets truncated. It probably should either use multiple lines to display the error message or use ellipses to indicate that there is more text that just doesn't fit in there." screenshot: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37537079/eog.png
Confirming. Maybe we can catch this while converting the message area widget to GtkInfoBar.
(In reply to comment #1) > Maybe we can catch this while converting the message area widget to GtkInfoBar. Uhh, no! Word wrapping the labels in the info bar seems to have problems. Either they grow into the border between text and button area (and thus get truncated) or they get wrapped and become mostly off-screen as the bar doesn't seem to grow horizontally. Not sure yet what's causing it.
This appears to be handled in GTK+-3. Don't know if there's a bugzilla ticket for it. The error message is wrapped as expected in 3.2 and 3.4 here. Please reopen if it still happens for you.
