GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 606339
invest applet MACD is incorrectly displayed
Last modified: 2018-03-12 12:44:26 UTC
this report has been filed here: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-applets/+bug/504042 "currently, the MACD indicator is displayed as two histograms, one for the MACD and one for the "signal line". this is incorrect. the MACD graph should be presented as two lines for the MACD and signal, and optionally, a histogram to show the difference between the two. the wikipedia page here shows what i mean: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MACD It took me a while to work out what was going on with the macd on this applet, and currently the information which this indicator is supposed to convey is often hard to read. i really like this applet and find it much more convenient that anything else available" screenshots: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37520740/MACDpicwiki.gif http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37520747/Screenshot.png
The chart is generated by yahoo finance, the applet does not have influence on this indicator, at least I do not see how this could be manipulated. This is the URL to retrieve your Screenshot's chart: http://ichart.europe.yahoo.com/z?s=JMC.L&t=6m&q=l&l=off&z=l&p=m20,e5,e20,b,v,&a=f14,w14,m26-12-9,ss, The MACD even looks different using different servers: http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/z?s=JMC.L&t=6m&q=l&l=off&z=l&p=m20,e5,e20,b,v,&a=f14,w14,m26-12-9,ss, The chart can be configured on Yahoo finance here: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ta?s=JMC.L&t=6m&l=on&z=l&q=l&p=m20,e5,e20,b,v&a=m26-12-9,ss,f14&c= If you find a way to get the MACD the "right" way, the applet can be changed accordingly. Cheers, Enrico

Invest applet has been removed because Yahoo Finance API is no longer available.
