Description beartooth 2009-12-31 17:57:23 UTC
When you hover the cursor over a gnome app, you get a name a/o description; when you hover it over a KDE app, you get nothing.

According to thread "small gripe..." at gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.general, beginning 12/29/09 (q.v.), this is actually a bug in Gnome.

It is also a long annoyance to us subtechnoids. I run Gnome -- but do find two or three KDE apps useful in addition to Gnome's, notably K3B and Konqueror. There may well be a couple more -- if I could discover them without having to take my concentration off the demands of the day.

Well, Gnome apps genrally use the Comment field to display comments, while KDE applications generally use the GenericName field. Maybe the menu could just display the GenericName when no Comment is specified? That would be the easiest solution as far as I can see.

If I understand the suggestion aright, it would produce a big improvement for the likes of me.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
