Just an added note, today the notification area crashed and a Gnome bug dialog poped up asking me for details about what I was doing. I had the screen locked using the Sun xlock command (the Gnome xcreensaver is disabled). When I unlocked the screen, the popup was their waiting for me. I was then asked if I wanted to reload the notification area. I reloaded it and it is still running. I am running SXCE B129 and I leave this laptop on 24/7 plugged into AC power with Evolution running. Evolution's calendar and email is used a lot.
