GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 605191
Gnome should keep the volume settings when disconnecting an USB audio device
Last modified: 2010-01-23 17:09:39 UTC
How to reproduce : 1- Connect an USB audio device (for instance, an USB headset) 2- Open gnome-volume-control 3- Change volumes for microphone input & speaker 4- Disconnect device 5- Reconnect device Expected results : the volume for both speaker and microphone should be restored as before disconnection. Actual results : the volume is restored to a predefined setting (determined at computer shut-down). Impact : before using Skype, for instance, one must always adjust volume settings before making a call. Also tracked on Launchpad : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/498550
This is handled by PulseAudio. Are you running PulseAudio? If yes, I suggest you report a bug to PulseAudio if you have been running it with "module-device-restore" (see http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/Modules#module-device-restore)
