GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 605163
Reconcile Freezes Gnucash after second monitor removed.
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:32:07 UTC
I have been running Gnucash on a Vista machine for a while with two monitors. One monitor went down and had to be RMA'd. After the removal of the second monitor, starting the reconcile function locked up Gnucash, requiring End Process through Process Manager to close Gnucash. After getting the second monitor back from the manufacturer, Gnucash reconcile works fine. No more freeze. I suspect that the application was still trying to place a window from the reconcile interface in an area of the desktop that was no longer there and that was causing it to lock up.
You're probably correct. The placement of dialogs/windows is controlled by your operating system, window manager. GnuCash has no control, in that respect, over which monitor the windows are placed. I intend to close this as as NOTABUG. Unless you can argue otherwise.
I'm running into this on Windows 7. If I hit Alt-C, I get the interface back and can continue, but I can't see the screen that needs input, so I don't know what I'm cancelling. (Or maybe Alt-C just means close. I have no way to tell.) Whatever it is, it is modal, and it's not the reconcile amount/date box, which does show on the screen but can't be used.
Shall we close the bug ? or anything else can be done ?
