GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 604525
Nautilus freezes when opening folders containing inkscape svg files. Thumbnail is not generated too.
Last modified: 2010-04-10 22:24:11 UTC
When opening a folder containing a problematic inkscape SVG file, its thumbnail isn't generated. File can be opened usually without problems with right click and selecting Inkscape. But next operation inside Nautilus reveals that it is completely hung, no matter what operation is: changing current folder, deleting files, etc. An observation perhaps useful is that when deleting a file as "the next operation" no confirmation dialog appears, but file is actually deleted. It is necessary to kill the process to start working again with nautilus. As you can guess, renaming the file or resaving it from inkscape, as well as hidding potential "issuing" layers doesn't solve the problem. This not happens with all inkscape SVG files. According to my experience is a common issue with large files, or files containing several and large images, or some path and gradient effects, AFAIK. Actually I've not sistematically tested what kind of inkscape SVG causes and what not. Bug referred here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+bug/305546 and here older: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/librsvg/+bug/30010 It happens in an indistinct way in Debian and Ubuntu. And there are long time ago (much more than a year and perhaps two) since the first time I've experienced this problem. No need to say that this issue is very very very annoiying, since almost any serious work with inkscape includes large and several images, clipping paths or this kind of things potentially suspicious. Thanks for your work, Raimon
please attach the problematic SVG file here.
Created attachment 158361 [details] zip with two problematic svg files Hi, there is a zip with two problematic svg files, from the same project. Saving them into a zip seems to be the only way to don't allow file previsualization. Hope it helps. Regards, Raimon
Thanks! Both files are the same type as bug #590788. If SVG file contains external image link in full path, GdkPixbufLoader hangs. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 590788 ***
