GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 604192
Evince PDF prints margin are wrong
Last modified: 2009-12-31 05:27:48 UTC
Created attachment 149446 [details] Contains scanned prints from Evince / Adobe Reader (tarballed PNGs) When I print PDF files using Evince, the margins are changed from what is displayed in the viewer. The result is uncentered text on paper, which looks bad. This seems not be a printer problem, as the same document is better printed (regarding margins correctness) with Acrobat Reader 9, installed on Ubuntu also. I have included Evince and Acrobat Reader respective outputs in the attachments. The test document, publicly available here : http://www.idealsoftware.com/PDF/rtf.pdf was used for testing, but any PDF file (haven't tested other types of file yet) is affected. correctness) with Acrobat Reader 9, installed on Ubuntu also. I just got bitten by this issue as well. I have a document that contains thin lines meant as cutting guides that run right up the edges. It's okay for these to get cut off by the printer, but I do want the page unscaled and not moved away from the edges. There doesn't seem to be a way of telling Evince not to scale or add margins to the pages, even though "Scale" is set to 100% in Print > Page Setup.
The bug should be fixed in git master. Previously evince scaled pages to fit within the margins. I assume this was to fix bug report where the edges of printouts were truncated due to the page content extending into the unprintable area. Now there is a new tab in the print dialog that allows the scaling and centering to be enabled or disabled.
I have cloned git and build evince: the fix work as intended. Congrats, and thank you Adrian!
