GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 603963
Unexpected gnometris application close down from "Preferences" form
Last modified: 2012-01-31 23:25:40 UTC
Steps for reproducing the bug: 1. Start gnometris. 2. Open Settings > Preferences. 3. The Preferences form has 3 tabs namely "Game", "Controls" and "Theme"; of these initially the "Game" tab is activated. 4. Click on either "Controls" or "Theme" tab. Do not change any settings on this tab. 5. Click "Close". This closes the gnometris application. Is this expected behaviour? Even if an application restart is necessary (in case of change of preferences), the user should be prompted that the new settings will take effect after restart and if (s)he wishes to do that now? Additional information: $ uname -a Linux bingbong 2.6.31-16-generic #52-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 3 22:07:16 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Yes I can confirm this fabio@OptimusPrime:~/repositorio/gnome/git/gnome-games$ gnometris do_wait: drmWaitVBlank returned -1, IRQs don't seem to be working correctly. Try adjusting the vblank_mode configuration parameter. (gnometris:6810): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x4400026 the current GLX drawable (gnometris:6810): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x4400041 the current GLX drawable (gnometris:6810): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x440027d the current GLX drawable The program 'gnometris' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'. (Details: serial 146 error_code 3 request_code 10 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 596554 ***
This could be marked as a duplicate, but I do wish to point out a few subtle differences: 1. Bug#596554 is caused by closing using the "X" button, whereas I have observed this on the use of the "Close" button. 2. Bug#596554 observes the behaviour on "Theme" page only, whereas I have observed the crashing on both the "Theme" and "Controls" tab. Just FYI.
This bug is being reassigned to the "quadrapassel" component so we can close the gnometris bugzilla component. Apologies for the mass email!
