Description Jack 2009-12-05 20:11:28 UTC
In my opinion it would be suitable to make possible to change the main color (currently black) and eventually to apply effects to the background of gnome shell (and the bar at the top of desktop).

I'm using it as default and i think you're doing a great job with it :)

that would be really nice I like black but I would like the possibility to set other color and also it would be nice to be able to set transparency as well.

We don't have any plans to change the default colors of the shell chrome for GNOME 3.0 apart from the slight style tweaks that are underway. You can change it on your own using CSS however. And thanks for the kind words :)

To me this is a (minor) accessibility issue: While I'm only mildly visually impaired (glasses), it is stressful to my sight reading white text on black background. When using GNOME 2 or XFCE the default black on grey/white is fine. There should be an option to switch to the "traditional" colour scheme without having to install extensions or tweak CSS.

Btw: How can I mark a bug as a11y relevant?
