GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 603625
Banshee doesn't scrobble on last.fm
Last modified: 2010-02-21 18:54:12 UTC
After upgrading to 1.5.2, banshee is no more able to scrobble songs on last.fm I've read somewhere that deleting ~/.cache/banshee-1/extensions/last.fm/audioscrobbler-queue.xml should do the trick, but that's not my case. More info: ArchLinux x86_64 Banshee version 1.5.2-1 Last.fm Extension version 1.0
Did you authorize Banshee to access your Last.fm profile ? Since we moved to the new Last.fm authentication system in 1.5.2, you have to go through the authentication process : 1/ Right-click on the Last.fm source and go to "Preferences" 2/ Check your username and click on authorize. This will open a page in your web browser 3/ In that page, grant access to Banshee 4/ Go back to banshee and click on the other button to check that everything is fine.

Yes, I forgot to mention that Banshee was already listed into the allowed apps.
Same for me on Banshee 1.5.2 (Fedora 12). Banshee is authorized and listed on last.fm Scrobbling doesn't work for me with one exception. Songs that I imported in the last time (most likely after the update - but I'm not sure on this) are scrobbled fine.
Could you please run "banshee --debug" from a terminal, play/scrobble a few songs a post the output here ? Please also specify if you're a Last.fm paying subscriber. This shouldn't make any difference, but you never know... I'm a subscriber, and scrobbling works for me with 1.5.2.
Created attachment 149809 [details] banshee-1 --debug output I'm not a last.fm subscriber. Log is attached.
Here it's mine -> http://pastebin.com/m7550c990 I'm not a paying user.
Thank you both for the logs. Paul, it looks like banshee is not event trying to send anything to Last.fm. You said that tracks that were imported recently are being scrobbled. Could you confirm that ? And maybe try this : select a track that is not getting scrobbled, remove it from your library, re-import it, play it and see if it then gets scrobbled. Giorgio, your log says "Last.fm username is invalid or Banshee is not authorized to access you account". Could you try to redo the authentication/authorization ? 1/ Quit Banshee 2/ Delete existing info with the following 2 commands : gconftool-2 --unset /apps/banshee-1/plugins/lastfm/session_key gconftool-2 --unset /apps/banshee-1/plugins/lastfm/username 3/ Start banshee and follow the steps outlined in comment #1.
Created attachment 149913 [details] log 2 Log now contains some newly imported tracks that scrobble fine. I also tried to reimport song. They scrobble fine afterwards. Seems to be something with the database!? If you need my db just say so.
Recently I have deleted my .config/banshee-1/ folder, then re-opened banshee and re-followed every step to allow scrobbling so as in comment #1 but nothing has changed.

This had no affect for me, issue still remains. Using daily build for Ubuntu Karmic in the UK. Cheers B
The problem has gone away with the latest build 1.5.3 after having followed the steps as in comment #1.
(In reply to comment #11) > The problem has gone away with the latest build 1.5.3 after having followed the > steps as in comment #1. Marking it as a dupe of the bug which tracks improvements in the Last.fm authentication. Feel free to re-open if steps from comment 1 don't work for you in Banshee 1.5.3 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 601309 ***
Iǘe tried the steps above, but it doesn't work. I never get to the lastfm- page where I can authorize banshee. When I press the button in banshee to get to account-page the banshe preferences open instead and I can't find anywhere there to give my account info. Banshee 1.6 Beta 5 (1.5.4) Ubuntu lucid 64 bit.
