GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 603288
nautilus doesn't show the while content of a folder (and mouse cursor is busy)
Last modified: 2009-12-13 18:37:56 UTC
In several folders (often when containing video, but not always), nautilus shows only 3 or 4 files (even if there are 30), and the mouse cursor is busy. I have to "nautilus -q" to resolve the problem. It happens quite often, always on the same folders. It is not only on my computer, my girlfriend has the same problem, and a colleague talk me about that (he didn't know I had the problem too). It happens in Ubuntu Karmic, but not in previous version (Jaunty).
(I think it can be a thumbnail generation thumbnail)

Ah, I have a tip for reproducing this bug every time. - Choose a folder where there are many documents which needs a thumbnail generation. - Execute : rm -rf ~/.thumbnails - In nautilus (in the chosen folder), press F5 (for regenerating thumbnails) - Before the thumbnails are generated, press F5 again and again : many files have disappeared - Reexecute rm -rf ~/.thumbnails for resolving the problem again (then F5).
