Description Craig 2009-11-28 16:23:13 UTC
When I use the importer to import my Outlook PST file it sort of works for the mail (I don't get the items from the Inbox only the sub-folders) it is not able to import the Contacts, Tasks or Calendar.

If I select one or more of these it starts processing but then closes not only the importer but Evolution as well. I don't get an error or message dialog.

I've had a look around but don't see any specific import log file that would give me a clue as to why this happens.

The Outlook PST is 40MB.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 x64 clean build with the ext4 filesystem.

My request was transfered to this bug-report from launchpad:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491787

So I add this information:
I was delighted to see the pst-import implemented in the newest evolution release (2.28.1 with Ubuntu 09.10 Karmic Koala.
I imported well all the contacts and calender items, no crash. I didn't try the emails (as I use IMAP).

Unfortunately it did NOT import the contact lists/mailing groups and categories.

Thanks for any help!

bug 646646 might have fixed original bug.

Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution 3.0.3 or 3.2.0 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the "Version"
field? Thanks a lot.
Comment 3 Dan 2011-09-30 06:25:54 UTC
Unfortunately I still work with 2.30.3, but hopefully in November I find time to move to a newer Ubuntu and Evolution version.

Thanks for your efforts and concerns.

Dan can you test with a newer evolution version 3.0 or 3.2? thank

Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided.
Please feel free to reopen this bug if this is still a problem with a recent Evolution version (3.2 or 3.0). Thanks!

Hi Fabio and André!

Finally I found time to test it with Evolution 3.2.1 (Ubuntu 11.10, AMD64). The importer opens well and I can navigate to a PST-file (from Outlook XP), but when I have chosen the file, it would not recognize it as pst-file, so I can not continue.
I tried it with the original pst-file that contains all data (mail, calendar, contacts) and with an exported calendar-pst-file.
Any hints?

Hi Dan,
what does "it would not recognize it as pst-file" mean? That the PST file format option exists but is not automatically chosen, or because that option does not exist?

Hi André!

Wow, you are fast!

Yes, PST file format option exists but is not automatically chosen and I can not choose it manually.

Hmm, interesting. But I have no idea how to debug that. :-/
Comment 10 Dan 2012-01-29 08:05:59 UTC
It works now after the latest Evolution update (Ubuntu 11.10, Evolution 3.2.2), it was probably this bug:

Thanks, closing as per last comment.
