Description Frederik Elwert 2009-11-19 19:54:18 UTC
Besides saving filled PDF forms as PDF files (see Bug #480668), evince should allow to save the contents of filled out forms to FDF/XFDF files. Also, loading data into PDF forms should be supported.

Why is this needed, even though saving PDF forms is already supported? Because (X)FDF is a great way to collect data using PDF forms. If forms are not meant to be printed, but the field values are meant to be processed, then a data format is necessary. Also, (X)FDF files are way smaller than the PDF forms, which is relevant when collecting data in a larger scale.

Even so this is an old request the feature to support (X)FDF files is still much needed as some file providers ship (X)FDF files separate from the PDF form file.

I'm using evince 3.10, and deplore the lack of such a feature very much.
