Description Nasser Hasian 2009-11-15 21:59:20 UTC
n 64bit Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 while using the official empathy PPA, Empathy has lost the ability to create AOL, ICQ, or Yahoo accounts. the option to add these types of accounts are missing completely from the list of protocols. I only see:

Jabber
Googletalk
People Nearby
IRC
MSN

Also if you previously had a yahoo, aol, or icq account active it will fail to connect to these services as it appears they are no longer supported.

Have you installed telepathy-haze, which provides those protocols?
Comment 2 Danielle Madeley 2009-11-15 23:49:01 UTC
Also, FWIW, please don't set the GNOME Target field.
Comment 3 Nasser Hasian 2009-11-16 04:36:23 UTC
yes you are correct, i didnt have telepathy-haze installed. it is working properly now once i manually added that package. If i'm not mistaken, wasn't telepathy-haze set to recommends with Empathy in Karmic? now using the PPA it is bumped down to suggests along with telepathy-butterfly.
