GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 602022
Empathy no longer has option to add AOL, ICQ or Yahoo account
Last modified: 2009-11-16 05:19:34 UTC
n 64bit Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 while using the official empathy PPA, Empathy has lost the ability to create AOL, ICQ, or Yahoo accounts. the option to add these types of accounts are missing completely from the list of protocols. I only see: Jabber Googletalk People Nearby IRC MSN Also if you previously had a yahoo, aol, or icq account active it will fail to connect to these services as it appears they are no longer supported. --- apt-cache policy empathy empathy: Installed: 2.28.1.1-1+ppa9.10+1 Candidate: 2.28.1.1-1+ppa9.10+1 Version table: *** 2.28.1.1-1+ppa9.10+1 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic-updates/main Packages 2.28.1-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
Have you installed telepathy-haze, which provides those protocols?
Also, FWIW, please don't set the GNOME Target field.
yes you are correct, i didnt have telepathy-haze installed. it is working properly now once i manually added that package. If i'm not mistaken, wasn't telepathy-haze set to recommends with Empathy in Karmic? now using the PPA it is bumped down to suggests along with telepathy-butterfly.
