GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 601799
tracker-preferences conflicts with 0.6 installation
Last modified: 2009-11-23 15:52:32 UTC
It is claimed by tracker developers (Ivan) that 0.7 is parallel installable with 0.6 so I installed 0.7 in jhbuild. Afterwards I realized that the preferences app in 0.7 is named exactly the same as that in 0.6 and hence 0.6 and 0.7 are not exactly parallel installable.
Seems there is at least one more binary that conflicts: tracker-search. To add to my annoyance the (de-facto) standard gnu option '--version' doesn't work so you never know which binary are you using. :(

We will not be making it possible for UI binaries like tracker-preferences to co-exist.
