Hi,
with latest totem there are some issues with how totem handles the return values of the codec installer. One example:

Without a codec installer movies for which only some codecs are installed but not all work fine, with a codec installer installed it doesn't work if the missing codecs can't be found.

I'll work on that and give some more details here later probably.
