When I change tags for some music files in Rhythmbox, then close the application and re-open, Rhythmbox shows the old tag information. I have done some looking around and find that the problem is due to multiple tags on the music file.

Neither Banshee nor Songbird have this problem, as they both read updated tags correctly. Is there any way Rhythmbox can be updated to read the tags correctly?

The tags being updated by Rhythmbox should be the tags that Rhythmbox reads when opening and displaying the collection.
