Description Drew Chapin 2009-11-02 03:03:59 UTC
I'm using Ubuntu Karmic Koala and the Gnome Sound Preferences dialog now has a Profile option for selecting Digital vs. Analog audio. It does not give the option to use both, which I need. I have Digital Output and Analog Input selected, and my headphones do not work. If I select Analog Output, they work. I simply need to be able to use both.

Also, I forgot to mention... When selecting Digital Output, you have to use the alsamixer to unmute IEC958/PCM in order to get it to work.

That's not a problem for gnome-volume-control, it's a PulseAudio problem. gnome-volume-control only presents the profiles that PulseAudio makes available.

File a bug against your distribution or against PulseAudio itself.
