I recently installed the new totem with the resindvd backend from gstreamer and was delighted to see that totem got finally got the dvd navigation support. However, in the totem menus (not the dvd menus) it was not possible to select audio or subtitle for instant switch between different audio and languages.

However, selecting both settings from the dvd menu works ok.

Are you trying to select the subtitle and audio tracks when playing the movie, or during the menus?

when playing the movie. in the popup menu, languages and subtitles submenus only say "empty"

It's a known limitation of the current DVD playback, that we'll hopefully address in the next month or two.

In the meantime, you can jump into the DVD menu and switch both subpicture and audio tracks in the appropriate submenus for the disc.
