Description Tim Rørstrøm 2009-10-29 22:06:04 UTC
When pressing the spacebar in a folder with no more unread messages (and if the magic spacebar is enabled), the selection should move to the first unread message in the first subsequent folder with unread messages.

Currently however, the selection moves to the message just before the first unread message, requiring an extra tap on the spacebar.

Running Evolution 2.28.1 under Ubuntu 9.10.

I find that the magic space bar takes me to the next folder with unread messages, but sometimes pressing space bar again just takes me to the *next* folder with unread messages (if there is one), rather than to the first message in that folder. If I press an arrow key after space bar, it actually goes 'into' the message list, and subsequently hitting '.' takes me to the next unread message.

Using Evolution 2.28.3, Ubuntu 10.04

Can you please check again whether this issue still happens in Evolution
2.32.0 and update this report by adding a comment and changing the
"Version" field? You also verify the functionality of magic space-bar on following link
http://library.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/usage-mail-getnsend-read.html.en#b17rgdac

Thanks a lot.

OK, it's much much better now (Evolution 2.30.3, Ubuntu 10.10 packages) - after pressing the space bar, I go to the next folder with unread messages, with the focus in the right place.

There is still a small glitch: when the space bar takes me to a new folder, the first unread message in the folder is selected, as it should, but it is not then marked as unread. So, if I press the space bar again (or '.' for next message), it goes to the next message without marking that first unread message as read, but marking the next message as read as it should. So I have to go back to mark the message as read.

In fact, the behaviour is not quite as predictable as above, I can't quite understand it.

I have not checked under Evolution 2.32

OK, I have worked it out: space bar takes you to the folder with the next unread message, but doesn't actually take you to the next unread message in that folder - it leaves you at the same message you were in that folder last time you selected it.

Although this is usable, this is not exactly the behaviour described in the link:

"If there are no more unread messages in the mailbox, pressing the Spacebar takes you to the next unread message in the next folder."

But I haven't checked in 2.32

Luke, can you check with 2.32 and reopen this bugreport, please?
