GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 599721
dhclient web site is incorrect
Last modified: 2010-02-05 06:53:58 UTC
dhclient displays this when you invoke it: Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.1.1 Copyright 2004-2008 Internet Systems Consortium. All rights reserved. For info, please visit http://www.isc.org/sw/dhcp/ See that URL on the last line? It does not exist.
This is a bug in dhclient then, since that message is provided by dhclient and not NM or nm-applet. Please file a bug upstream with the ISC about it. Thansk!
Wouldn't it make more sense for you to file the bug upstream? Aren't you the ones that are repackaging ISC's software? I can probably figure out how to do it, but I have no experience, no contacts, no info, etc. Don't you?
I submitted the bug to ISC. Mark Andrews, ISC, responded: The current client says, https://www.isc.org/software/dhcp. You should ask Ubuntu to ship a current release. The current version on the ISC DHCP 3.1 chain is ISC DHCP 3.1.3 I'll see if I can get a redirect added for http://www.isc.org/sw/dhcp/ but no promises
Changing the status.
Ok, since this is an Ubuntu bug since they are not shipping a new enough version, please file the bug in Launchpad. Most other non-Debian distros ship current versions of dhclient. NetworkManager itself has no control over what dhclient version the distros ship, that's the distros responsibility. Upstream NetworkManager (ie, here) does not package or modify dhclient.
