GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 599690
needs some HIG love
Last modified: 2011-04-17 15:20:15 UTC
The screenshots from http://www.bani.com.br/lang/en/2009/10/vinagre-2-29-1 show several HIG problems in the dialogues: - wrong capitalisation used - missing mnemonics on labels (and thus probably also missing mnemonic targets set), and in menu items - question ("Which machine do you want to connect to?") where there should just be a descriptive string - wrong borders, indents, spacings and packings - dialogues should not have a separator
From comments in the post: Just a few suggestions for the “Remote Desktop Viewer” dialog: 1) The title should say something like “New connection” (or “Connect to…”) rather than “Remote Desktop Viewer”. That’s much more descriptive of what the dialog is for. 2) “Depth color” should be “Color depth” 3) It would be nice if the options below the “Host” entry were hidden away in a gtkExpander. We don’t *always* need to see those options…
Also: Suggest that “For further information checkout the help” be modified to, “To know more about this feature please read the Help”. The somewhat pedantic correction on “checkout” is based on the colloquial usage of checkout during transactions at retail counters etc.
Fixed in commit e256798cffeb49fe3c31bfaa1e774220ae12e6a0.
