Description Willie Walker 2009-10-20 19:14:42 UTC
This is a follow up to a discussion we're having on gdm-list regarding gdm 2.28 accessibility (http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gdm-list/2009-October/msg00007.html).

Opening the a11y dialog on the login screen requires the user either use the mouse or press Ctrl+Alt+Tab and then navigate to the a11y icon. This is awkward for users who cannot use the mouse and have difficulty typing on the keyboard.

It would be great if there were some hot key that could be used to open the dialog.

Thanks!

I think this bug is already reported as bug #531596. It would be best to fix this bug in the general keybindings preferences, since then it would work the same for both the user session and for GDM.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=531596

Should this be marked as a duplicate?

I believe the two are different. Bug #531596 is for launching assistive technologies whereas this bug is for popping up the Universal Access Preferences dialog.

Marking OBSOLETE, since the greeter is now provided by gnome-shell not GDM, and it has the same features as inside the session.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use.

By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME.
Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
