Hi,

I encountered this problem in the Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) beta. I posted a bug in Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/452510 and they told me it was an upstream problem.

I attach a screenshot of the resulting dialog when Totem doesn't fine a channels list. Sorry it's in French (maybe this is the problem), it basically says "Sorry, you need a channel list, follow the instructions in the link to create one". However as you can see there is no link.
