GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 597989
Unable to find "Asturias airport" easily
Last modified: 2017-12-12 13:35:53 UTC
At first I will explain the problem: When trying to add Asturias location to clock applet I am unable to find it. I have to search by "Avilés", that is the city where the airport is placed. But this isn't obvious because Avilés is the fourth city by importance in Asturias. Only "Avilés" can be found because configuration only searches in city, state and country fields, and not in airports names. Spain has 17 Autonomous communities (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_communities_of_Spain), one of them is "Asturias" The problem is that, currently, Locations.xml file doesn't classify airports takeing care of communities where they are. Maybe the solution would be to rework Locations.in file to classify airports and cities under "state" (yes, I now that Autonomous Communities are not exactly "states", but I think that can be treated as the same in Locations.xml file) Other solution would be to allow applet configuration to search also in airports name fields.
Created attachment 365426 [details] [review] locations: Add Gijón, Spain It's a large enough city with an airport close to it (Asturias Airport). The capital city of that principality, Oviedo, is slightly smaller, and the airport is further. The location entry will automatically lookup Ovideo and attach it to the closest airport, so there should be no need to add it manually.
