GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 597217
Some modules from Git don't appear anywhere in Vertimus
Last modified: 2010-01-17 14:48:14 UTC
I'm missing some translatable modules from the Vertimus view: index : gnac (UI) index : gnome-devel-docs (docs) Nice to see that we now track the status of the Optimization Guide, but there are some more docs, which uses the current g-d-u stuff: accessibility-devel-guide and hig. The other manuals from the GDP are outdated. index : gnome-doc-utils (docs) The Mallard manual is up-to-date, but im unsure whether the other manuals should appear. They are a bit outdated and I expect that their content will be merged into the Mallard manual. And as far as I know, some differences from the normal g-d-u build process prevents Vertimus from creating a valid pot template. Oddly enough that this affects even the g-d-u docs itself. index : gnome-mastermind (both UI and docs) index : gnome-web-photo (UI) index : kupfer (UI) index : libgconf-bridge (UI) index : longomatch (UI) Longomatch doesn't use the gettext stuff for its translations, but a gettext-like script from Mono. However, there is a pot template and some existing translation files. index : mortadelo (UI) index : murrine (UI) index : network-manager-netbook (UI) index : seed (UI) index : snowy (UI) Translation stuff is in /locale. It includes a README with instructions how to create translation templates. I don't know whether Vertimus can handle this... Well, we have some more untracked apps, but their last commits are sometimes some years old. It wouldn't be useful to show them.
Done for: gnac, gnome-devel-docs, gnome-doc-utils, gnome-web-photo Investigation needed for: gnome-mastermind, snowy, longomatch Still todo: kupfer, libgconf-bridge, mortadelo, murrine, network-manager-netbook, seed
Thanks for your fast response. In my mind, gnome-mastermind follows the usual way to generate pot files. What's the matter with it? Note that Kupfer cannot be updated with "intltool-update". As the maintainer wrote, you have to run "waf intlupdate" instead.
I believe that I have fixed this so that Kupfer can now be updated with (cd po; intltool-update ${LANG:0:2}) http://git.gnome.org/cgit/kupfer/commit/?id=fe3ded9d27e1e3ebf5bdaf33f67dd478b8d0e130
Just tested, works fine. The intltool-update command runs without errors.
Thanks Ulrik. Three more: http://l10n.gnome.org/module/kupfer/ http://l10n.gnome.org/module/libgconf-bridge/ http://l10n.gnome.org/module/mortadelo/
Done. damned-lies does not support snowy (django) translation system. For damned-lies, which is also a Django application, I had to create special scripts to produce the locale/<lang>/LC_MESSAGES/django.po from the po directory. I'll add longomatch when it will use a standard system. seed has currently no string to translate.
What about gnome-mastermind and murrine?
murrine is done: http://l10n.gnome.org/module/murrine/ (sorry, the master branch was not linked to the Extras release set). I asked filippo about gnome-mastermind, and he was not very sure about further releases of this module. I just wonder if it's worth adding it if we are not sure it will still be developped... I'm still waiting for a final answer from him before going on.
Hi, I'm the maintainer of longomatch and I was asked on IRC to make it intltool compatible to have a translations module for it. I think that I did the appropiate changes and logomatch should actually meet this requierement (http://git.gnome.org/cgit/longomatch/tree/po). Let me know if I need to change anything else.
Hi Andoni, Seeing your /po directory, I would say that LongoMatch.pot and messages.po should not be in the repository (they are generated files, aren't they?). es_ES.po should be renamed to es.po and the LINGUAS file should only contain languages for which there is an existing po file. And finally, if it is intltool compliant, you should be able to run "intltool-update fr" in the po directory without errors...
I removed the mentioned files and did the changed to LINGUAS (http://git.gnome.org/cgit/longomatch/commit/?id=872296e40ca9f18f37a6c17ad9f4802684f7704c). 'intltool-update' runs without errors :) Thanks for the help
Already much better :-) Now if you run 'intltool-update fr' in a clean tree, the following message appears: can't open ./../LongoMatch/longomatch.desktop.in: No such file or directory at /usr/bin/intltool-extract line 212. xgettext: error while opening "../LongoMatch/longomatch.desktop.in.h" for reading: No such file or directory ERROR: xgettext failed to generate PO template file. Please consult error message above if there is any.
That file was missing in the repository...I maintain the project alone and errors like that happens ;) I launched again 'intltool-update fr' in a clean tree and it finished without errors. Let me know if something else is missing
After testing the Longomatch behaviour while running intltool-update, I would say it should now be possible to add it to Vertimus.
Done for longomatch: http://l10n.gnome.org/module/longomatch/
