this report has been filed here: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/429861 version is: 0.12.4-2ubuntu1 "Rhythmbox will play a few seconds up to one full song at most before stopping, locking up and dying. Sometimes I can get it to go sooner by trying to skip or pause/resume playback." ".

Output from 'rhythmbox -D player' would probably help here.
Comment from launchpad: >>> Haven't been able to replicate this with recent round of updates. The only output I've gotten in the debug file is: "Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "pk-gtk-module": libpk-gtk-module.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" I've seen it before, maybe https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/packagekit/+bug/389766 ? Anyway, the main point is I'm having a hell of a time replicating this now. I'll keep trying but I have a feeling this may have been squashed already. <<<
