Description Hubert Haulin 2009-09-30 09:14:20 UTC
Under ubunto, the evolution mail tool does not open the .eml files. Is there a plug in to support this ?

Thanks a lot

If you're talking about mbox files, you have to use File -> Import.

It's been proposed to have Evolution announce to the rest of the desktop that it knows how to open importable file types (mbox, ical, csv, etc.) so Evolution's import assistant would start automatically when you double-click on one of these files types in, say, Nautilus. But that feature is not written yet.

'.eml' files cannot be imported. This type of files is not supported in Evolution.
Comment 3 Mihai Capotă 2010-08-03 15:39:33 UTC
.eml files are just RFC 822 files, i.e., mbox files storing single messages with no "From " line inserted. Thunderbird and some Microsoft clients use the format to save individual emails. Thunderbird has the option to open them.

It's also the format individual Maildir messages are stored, which is why I'm interested in this big.

Opening .eml files would be a useful feature for Evolution. Actually, opening saved individual messages - as opposed to importing - would be nice a nice feature in general.

Please consider reopening this bug with enhancement severity.
