GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 596602
Having a pager for workspaces
Last modified: 2011-02-19 20:41:14 UTC
Hello, I really like the way Gnome-shell is working but I miss something essential for my personnal workflow : a pager that display a miniature of the existing workspaces. Having such a pager implies that, in a way or another, you can fix once for all the number of workspaces and their geometry (3x3, 4x2, …), which is, AFAIK, not possible currently in gnome-shell. I'm currently using, with traditionnal gnome-panel, gpager, a little pager using libwnck ( https://edge.launchpad.net/gpager ) and I would like to see the same in gnome-shell. To fix this bug, there should be, IMHO : - pager with miniature of all workspaces - ability to drag-n-drop pager from one desktop to another - ability to fix the number and the geometry of workspaces. I would like to know if such a pager would be compatible with the intended gnome-shell workflow and, if yes, how we could implement it as I'm ready to contribute.
Maybe a zoomed-out image, including the clutter diagrams of each workspace?
(bugzilla spam: populating the new "extensions" component with bugs discussing features that are not part of the core spec, but could be implemented externally once the extension system is done.)
Gnome-shell has now a workspace view that is mostly like a pager, and this bug is more than year old, so I'm tentatively closing this as Obsolete.
