GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 596433
Use "More" instead of "Browse"
Last modified: 2009-09-27 16:02:50 UTC
The text "Browse" used for the buttons on the dash section headers is a little obscure and tends to translate into something that doesn't fit well. Going back to "More" will hopefully be more manageable in translation. One of the things mentioned in bug 591861.

An alternative solution would be to use contextual translations...
Created attachment 144110 [details] [review] Set a context for the "Browse" link of the dash. This makes it possible to give a specific translation for the "Browse" button that is not the one used for all the "Browse" string instances out there, allowing the translator to pick a more accurate translation: msgctxt "Show more applications/documents/etc" msgid "Browse"
Comment on attachment 144110 [details] [review] Set a context for the "Browse" link of the dash. I don't think using a contextual translation is necessary here - there are not other occurrences of "Browse" that should be translated differently. If we wanted to give the translator some hints, we could just do it in a comment. (Probably would need to be fairly specific - translators don't generally feel empowered to pick a completely different word just because it might work in the user interface.) But we actually I think the idea was to go back to "More" for English anyways.
Comment on attachment 144108 [details] [review] Use "More" instead of "Browse" looks good ... let me know if you need me to push it. (Don't know if you have a GNOME Git account or not.)
