Description Jan Claeys 2009-09-26 10:17:40 UTC
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/434463

Weird bug possibly caused by the fact that "extended partition does not start at a cylinder boundary".

Not sure if the swap got re-enabled between steps, but why would it be?

Filed against version 0.4.3 (which is used in Ubuntu 9.04) but might have happened with any version of course...

This problem might be related to bug #604298 that also involves a "failure to inform kernel about partition changes" problem.
Comment 2 Curtis Gedak 2010-02-23 21:56:56 UTC
From re-reading the gparted_details.htm log file in the launchpad report, it certainly does appear that the bug regarding "failure to inform kernel of partition changes" is likely the root of this problem.

Many issues stem from this problem as can be seen the the GParted forum post:
http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=13777

Closing this bug as a duplicate of bug #604298 since this problem was addressed with "work around" code included in GParted 0.5.1.
