Description Sanne Wouda 2009-09-14 10:19:21 UTC
I reported this bug on the Ubuntu bug tracker, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/428902 , with version gvfs=1.3.6-0ubuntu1 and nautilus=2.27.92-0ubuntu1. An ubuntu developer suggested to report this bug upstream against gvfs.

When I try to copy a directory from an smb:// share to a local directory, nautilus gives me an error message and only creates a file with the name of the remote directory in the local directory. This is when using drag and drop in nautilus.

The error message says:

Error while copying "remote_dir".
There was an error copying the file into /home/sanne/local_dir.
More details >
No such file or directory

Things that /do/ work:
Copying a file from a remote smb:// share to a local directory.
Copying a directory from a remote smb:// share to another directory on the same share.
Copying a directory from a remote smb:// share to a local directory from within a terminal by using a `cp ~/.gvfs/remote_share/remote_dir ~`.

I'd be happy to provide any additional information.

Thanks for your attention.

I'm still seeing this bug while using gvfs-1.4.x.

Is there anyone who can confirm?

I can confirm the existence of this issue.

I'd also like to note that when I try to go to a mounted share in `~/.gvfs` in Nautilus it displays the `smb://` URI instead. I also haven't been able to figure out where in the codebase this stuff is handled.

Is this still an issue?

Since gvfs doesn't handle recursive copy AFAIK, this may have been a nautilus issue.
Comment 4 Sanne Wouda 2013-11-29 14:16:32 UTC
(Un)fortunately, I don't have access to a setup to test this bug. I haven't needed smb:// mounts in a long time. So, not an issue for me, at least :)

Thanks. Closing as obsolete. If this problem still exists, please reopen or open a new bug.
