GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 594432
playing "new_message_sound" gives error message or won't even work
Last modified: 2009-09-07 22:02:54 UTC
Created attachment 142652 [details] debug -d 4 and screenshot of the error. The first four sound events in preferences can be played without problem. The last one "Play sound for new instant messages" (newmessage.wav) makes problems. -------- Case 1: With ekiga 3.2.5 from opensuse's factory repository After hitting the "play" button the pop-up appear: "Error while opening audio output device Default No incoming sound will be played. The selected audio device was successfully opened but it is impossible to write data to this device. In case it is a pluggable device it may be sufficient to reconnect it. If not, or if it still is not accessible, please check your audio setup" However, the sound is being played! Re-Playing the sound is possible and every time the pop-up appears. --------- Case 2: With ekiga 3.2.6 (latest gnome_2_26 branch and compiled myself in sandbox) After hitting the "play" button the sound is played. But then the sound device seems to be blocked because I can't hear anything when trying to play the other samples (including the the newmessage.wav) --------- Idea: According to the screenshot I believe there is something wrong with the newmessage.wav file, but I don't know what.
Hi Dominik, It seems indeed there is something wrong with that file, but I do not know what. I do not know how to obtain the correct sound from it and put it in a "normal" sound file. Nobody know what is wrong. aplay plays it well, vlc only a half, and xmms nothing. Also, it's a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 588532 ***
