GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 593350
empathy doesn't indicate whether the contact is using a cellphone
Last modified: 2009-08-28 04:03:36 UTC
Binary package hint: empathy Many of my contacts on various instant messaging networks use their cellphones to IM. Cellphones have physical limitations to how fast you can type and send a message, and how quickly you can read them. Depending on whether my contact is on a cellphone at the time or not, I frequently will change my communication behaviour so as to not inconvenience them. I know that it is possible for the IM client to notify me of whether my contact is on a cellphone or not, as services like Meebo, and clients like Pidgin, or AIM (On windows) will give me this visual indication. This is a major issue for me, especially considering that some of these contacts pay by the message, all for the want of an icon.
