Description Brian J. Murrell 2009-08-06 13:09:35 UTC
It would be nice if Banshee would accept (and remember) a per-device user preference that specifies the max. bitrate that they want audio files encoded to when copying to a portable device.

Use case:

Let's say I have a bunch of 320KB/s mp3s which I want to copy to my portable device, but let's say I only want them to be 128KB/s on the portable device to maximize the number of songs I can put on a memory limited device.

Banshee should transcode those mp3s down from 320KB/s to 128KB/s when copying them to the portable device.

This of course is not limited to mp3. Any encoding format which can accept different bitrates (i.e. ogg/vorbis) should be eligible.
