Please describe the problem:
There is unnecessary CPU usage for creating thumbnails for screenshots and waveforms of the video during the rendering.
Especially when zoomed in

I forgot to tell it is happening in the main window, down in the timeline.

It makes sense (at least in theory). Could you test if this is still needed with pitivi git? Waveforms are much, much faster since Brandon reworked them recently.
