I like to clean up some old podcasts or work on more than one music file. But rhythmbox only knows SHIFT to select multiple podcast episodes. 

Can we have control-(ctrl)-select enabled for podcast and music directory?

Control works just fine, as in other applications. Do you have the "locate mouse pointer" preference enabled in the mouse preferences?
