GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 589065
Ugly distortion, VLC OK, GStreamer NOT
Last modified: 2010-04-11 20:56:09 UTC
Bugs: 1.Skipping 2. MUCH distortion on some files 3. One file for you to hear it for yourself I narrowed this bug to gstreamer. With GStreamer 0.10x on (Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 64bit) some mp3s are very bad distorted, some not, some skip sometimes a little so it is hard to hear it for you an see the bug for yourself. But I got the file that you WILL hear it. Read further. This one is 160kb/s in a video recorded from TV. I have no problem while playing it in VLC player at all. Sound is smooth and OK. I tried fluendo GStreamer plugin and its much, much better, almost unhearable, but not as good as in VLC. Here are the links to the troublesome file, just listen them in Totem (GStreamer) and you will go nuts: http://www.2shared.com/file/5791040/b515e028/ http://www.2shared.com/file/5791024/e42283b7/ interchangeable links: http://www.sendspace.pl/file/OxRa7FOY/ http://www.sendspace.pl/file/C8M5J3ub/ PS.Very, very, very little skipping (that sometimes goes by you unnoticed, because it's not happening all the time) is also in vorbis or FLAC. But no distortion. Only this file is distorted.
Plays perfectly fine here with git of everything. Tomas, if you want, you could try with the gstreamer-developers PPA which has packages for all latest gstreamer releases: https://launchpad.net/~gstreamer-developers/+archive
Tomas, please reopen if this is still an issue.
