Description tomwolfe 2009-07-11 01:55:43 UTC
Please describe the problem:
An audio/video call will never connect via any protocol (gtalk and sip).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start empathy
2. setup SIP account (I use IPtel.org)
3. call sip number from another phone
4. See ekiga indicating an incoming call
5. click on answer
6. interface says "connecting" at the bottom of the "call with..." window. send audio is automatically selected.
7. connecting message stays up for about 1 minute and then switches to disconnected.

same thing happens when an incoming call from gtalk is initiated.

Actual results:
the call never completes

Expected results:
I would expect the call to connect and be established

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
version 2.27.3 on Ubuntu 9.10

Could you attach Empathy logs please?
Run it with EMPATH_DEBUG=all or get them from the debug menu.

thanks Guillaume.

I could not get the log for when I receive a sip call. If I select sofiasip in the debug window rather than gabble (that is the one that I used for the above log) it says it does not support the remote debugging extension.

The log level of the above log is debug.

I don't know anyone who can call me via google talk to test, thus I had to just call myself. Although the same results appear to happen when I accept a sip call.

If I can be of more help, please let me know.

I'd prefer to focus on the Gtalk problem for now. I'd need full gabble and empathy log when you receive an audio call. If you doesn't have any contact which could call you, feel free to join #telepathy on FreeNode and ping me (cassidy).

I experience the same thing. Attached is a log of a failing session¹.
What we did during this session was first i made a video call which failed, then my friend tried to make a few video calls that all failed, then we made an audio call and started talking and i tried to press the webcam button which also failed (but we could continue talking).

Hope this is of some value. (I'm also on the Beta)

1: as described here http://www.jonobacon.org/2009/10/02/ubuntu-9-10-karmic-koala-beta-released-testers-needed/ (so i used the following commandline: "EMPATHY_LOGFILE=/tmp/empathy.log GST_DEBUG=\*fsrtp\*:5 EMPATHY_DEBUG=all empathy")

The log mentioned above.
Comment 7 John Markh 2009-11-18 08:56:50 UTC
I had mixed results (Empathy 2.28.1.1): I use 3 registrars (Google Talk via Gizmo5, sipgate.co.uk and voip.ms) and always able to receive SIP calls. In some rare cases I was able to make outgoing call (mainly through voip.ms) but in 98.5% it fails as described above.

Comment 9 Guillaume Desmottes 2009-12-15 14:45:48 UTC
Issue seems to be at the SIP level. I suggest you to grab telepathy-sofiasip log and reports this bug on bugs.freedesktop.org.
