Description Misha Shnurapet 2009-07-01 15:45:20 UTC
When the "Part of compilation" tag field is checked, the track should be stored in the folder named as the artist of the compilation, so all the tracks belonging to one compilation are stored on disk in one folder. It would be easy to copy one folder to another location if desired. Now they are all stored by the artist of each *track*, so the compilation gets scattered over the whole Collection on the hard drive.

The tracks should, however, keep showing as different artists in the Collection so the tracks written by one artist can be grouped together.

Example:

Capcom «Devil May Cry OST»

01. Kento Hasegawa — Arkham Pulls Out Demon Sword Sparda
02. Kento Hasegawa — Doppelganger Battle
03. Kento Hasegawa — Get Doppelganger Style!
04. Tetsuya Shibata — Demon World
05. Tetsuya Shibata — Damned Chess Battle

to be stored in one folder ~/Music/Capcom/Devil May Cry OST (2005) so it is easy to move it using a file manager.

Currently these tracks get separated from each other to 2 different folders:
~/Music/Kento Hasegawa/Devil May Cry OST (2005)
~/Music/Tetsuya Shibata/Devil May Cry OST (2005)
and are hard to get together without Banshee when there are 15-17 tracks each of different artist. Even with Banshee, it is harder to export such compilations when there are, for example, more than 3 of them.

Plus, when I select, for example, Kento Hasegawa in the browser I can't see the rest of the tracks by other artists.

And when I search for music from the game I would refer to it as a compilation rather than by each artist there is.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the 1.5.0 unstable version.

I guess you're running 1.4.x. If you're running 1.5.0 and are using "Album Artist" in the Folder Hierarchy setting, feel free to re-open this bug.

Thank you for replying. You are correct, I am using the latest stable version of the player available in my repository. So, I will provide feedback a bit later, when I receive the version 1.5.0.
